2 ways with shells ...

Shell-covered Donald Duck anyone?  No?!  How about a limpet covered bottle instead then?!

An old rocking horse

This old rocking horse was in Limerick Animal Welfare's furniture shop today.  I had a tin rocking horse when I was a child and loved it.  This dobbin looks as if generations of children have had fun on it.  It has a repair on the neck and the handles are loose with the paint worn off them at the ends.  It reminded me a little of some of the poor horses you see around Limerick, also cast aside and tired looking with a hesitant look in their eyes as if they don't know what to expect.  I put it up on the table to photograph it better and when I went in the shop later it was gone, hopefully to bring more joy to another child somewhere.

Wooden weightlifter

Bought this charming wooden weightlifter - unfortunately she lost the ends of her weights.  Probably knocked off by 'Annette' who also autographed the base in pencil.  Little brat.

A catch-up

I'm in the mood for a bit of blogging today so here are a few more things that I have recently acquired and finally got round to sharing:-

Colourful Eastern European style napkins

This was a Christmas present for a friend who is also a connoisseur of original things from charity shops
And this was another present for the same friend

I love sartorial mismatches like this silk polka dot square and tribal necklace

My new favourite bag

Oh deer, oh deer!

Look what I got today in the Limerick Animal Welfare charity shop - a whole herd of deer in a snowy forest clearing!

Oh yes and these lovely leather mirrors - they'll all be together in that spot on the landing, with the dog and the dove and the wallpaper

A weakness for wicker

At LAW yesterday all handbags were only €1 each.  I got this one:-

I also got a lovely Fairisle style tank top which is currently hanging on the line after a 'quick and cool' in the washing machine.  I have discovered that this setting is great for washing woollens without felting them.
